Our problem is not that we expect too much of God, but that we expect far too little of Him. We must truly believe that what the Bible says is true, that its promises are real, and that He who promised is able to do that which He says. I encourage you to take a look at the following list of promises in God’s Word. Spend some time alone with Him, looking up the passages and meditating upon their glorious truths. You will surely find that those who seek Him will find Him, and those who ask will receive!
* He will supernaturally protect us from harm. (Psalm 91:5-12)
* He will save, heal, and rescue us from destruction and fill us with good things. (Psalm 103:1-4)
* He will not withhold any good thing from us. (Psalm 84:11-12)
* He will give us supernatural strength and power. (Isaiah 40:29-31)
* He will keep us in perfect peace as we look to Him.
* He will do even beyond what we ask or think. (Ephesians 3:20-21)
* He will give us victory over sin. (Romans 8:2-6)
* He will give us power over the Enemy. (James 4:7)
* He will stand against all who stand against us. (Isaiah 54:17)
This is only a taste of the promises God has given us in His Word. There are two ways to respond to them: we can explain them away, as many theologians and modern writers have done, and live as if they do not apply to our daily, moment-by-moment lives. Or we can actually believe them and build our lives around them.
